I’ve allowed my literary talents lie dormant for far too long, so starting on on the first, I’m beginning a new project. So as not to be to ambitious and defeat my self before I start, I’m going to begin by writing only one sonnet per week for one month. After that, however, it’ll jump up to three per week per month and then once a day.
How long this project will last, I’m not sure, but I think it’s a good kick in the pants to get my creative juices flowing again. The rules I’ll be following (though I suppose you’ll just have to take my word for this) are the following: I may not begin writing the sonnet until the day it is due; it must be posted on this site by 11:00 PM EST; each must be titled; and I must use both English and Italian sonnets (though i know English will be the dominant form).
Eventually I’ll develop something similar to help with my prose work, with both fiction and nonfiction, so hopefully this blog will see some heavy use in the coming months. Aside from the post of poems themselves, there will of course be status updates on how I’m faring with the project, if it’s helping me grow as a writer and so on.
So, come Friday, my first sonnet will be up.
Update: Had a little set back of playing far too much Star Wars: The Old Republic, and let this slip my mind. Moving first post to this coming Friday.
